About Annika

I was writing spicy stories before I was technically old enough to read them.

Why you can't see my face

I have real parents and real in-laws. They all think I write "romance". They're not wrong, but I'd like them to keep coming to Sunday lunch without picturing the hairbrush scene in chapter eight. So: no photo.

Sweet, Spicy, and Spankilicious.

Questions people actually ask

Is this dark or BDSM-heavy?

No. These are contemporary spanking romances without dark BDSM. No dungeons, no clubs, no master/slave dynamics, no dubious consent, no billionaires or mafia bosses. The heroes are ordinary men: a dentist, a notary, a roommate, a neighbour, a boss, ... Consent is explicit on the page. Spanking intensity runs from Level 1 to Level 4, stated on every book.

Is spanking in romance books the same as abuse?

No, and it's a fair question to ask. Consensual spanking between adults is a common kink built on trust, communication and care, the opposite of abuse, which involves neither. These books are written to reflect that: enthusiastic consent, negotiation on the page, and the heroine's pleasure as the point rather than a by-product.

What is the Spank-O-Meter?

It's the rating on every book page. Each book is rated 1 to 4 for spanking intensity and lists which implements appear (hand, hairbrush, cane, belt, spatula, ruler, etc.) and whether it contains anal play. It exists so you know exactly what's inside before buying. No shame, no guessing.

Which book should I read first?

Hotel Inspection or Over Her Dentist's Knee. Both are Spanking level 3 and a fair sample of what I write: a woman who knows what she wants, an ordinary man with a firm hand, and a lot of laughing.

Do the books need to be read in order?

No. All ten are standalones with a complete story and a happily ever after. There's no reading order and no cliffhangers.

Which books have no anal play?

Steamy Christmas, which is the mildest book in the catalogue, The Naughty Hitchhiker and The Strict Roommate, where it appears only in the optional bonus scene. Every book page lists its content notes in full.

How long are the books?

About two hours each. The novellas have roughly 18,000 to 20,000 words, designed to be finished in one sitting.

Are the books available in German?

Yes. Seven are translated and published as the Verliebt & Versohlt series, available on Amazon and free to read with Kindle Unlimited.

Is there a happy ending?

Always. Every book ends with a guaranteed HEA and a full epilogue.

Is it normal to fantasize about spanking?

Yes, and you're in much bigger company than you think. Spanking is one of the most commonly reported kinks there is, and most of the people who enjoy it are getting on with ordinary jobs and school runs while quietly assuming they're the only ones. Wanting it doesn't mean something happened to you and it doesn't mean anything is broken. It means you like what you like. The only part worth changing is how long people wait before saying so out loud.

What if my partner isn't into spanking?

Then you have a conversation ahead of you, not a dead end. Mr. Stout wasn't a spanko when we met and is very much one now, and that took years of talking rather than one dramatic evening. We both wrote about how it actually happened in "Can you convert a non-spanko into a spanko?", which is on this site under Let's talk about spanking. Handing someone a book is also a gentler opening than a speech, which is part of why I write them.

Is there actual sex, or just spanking?

Both. These are spicy romances with explicit sex, not spanking scenes with a story bolted on. The spanking is usually where the heat starts rather than where it ends, and there's a full love story around it every time. What's in each book is listed on its own page, including which implements appear and whether there's anal play.

Let's talk about spanking

Spanking is a normal kink enjoyed by very normal people. Here are a couple of honest conversations about it, from both halves of a real couple.
