The short version
This website sets no cookies and does not track you for advertising. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. Nothing loads from Google, Meta or anyone else when you visit a page — the fonts, images and styling all come from this site.
The only personal data handled here is: your email address if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter, and the technical information every web server records when a page is requested.
Who is responsible
Annika Stout ORCA — Calle Gil-Vernet 54/55, Les Tapies 1 #1087, 43890 Hospitalet de l’Infant, Tarragona, Spain
Full details, including the email address, are in the Legal Notice. You can also write via the contact page.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. As with any website, requesting a page causes technical data to be processed, including your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and your browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the site and to keep it secure and available.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Analytics
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It is privacy-focused by design: it uses no cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, does not build profiles and does not track anyone across other websites. It records aggregate information such as how many pages were viewed, which pages, roughly which country a visit came from, and which site referred it.
Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how the website is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Because it stores nothing on your device, it does not require consent, which is why you are not being asked for any.
The German-language notice
If your browser is set to German, a small line appears at the top of an English page offering the German version. If you close it, that choice is remembered for the rest of your visit using session storage on your own device — one word, no identifier, deleted the moment you close the browser. It is not a cookie, it is not sent anywhere, and it is used for nothing else.
This is a user-preference item and is exempt from the consent requirement, which is why you are still not being asked for anything.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is processed by MailerLite (UAB MailerLite, Lithuania) in order to send you the newsletter.
Subscribing uses double opt-in: you enter your address, you receive an email asking you to confirm, and you are only added once you click that confirmation. The confirmation is recorded as proof of consent. If you never confirm, the address is discarded.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, with no reason and no consequence, using the unsubscribe link at the foot of every newsletter or by emailing the contact page. Withdrawing does not affect anything sent before you withdrew. Your address is deleted after you unsubscribe, apart from what is needed to honour the unsubscribe itself.
Bonus chapters
Free bonus chapters are delivered by BookFunnel. Clicking a bonus link takes you to BookFunnel’s website, where you give them your email address in order to receive the file. That happens on their site, under their privacy policy, not here.
Retailer links
Buttons such as Amazon, Kobo or Apple Books are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from those companies while you are on this site — no scripts, no images, no tracking pixels. They learn nothing about you unless you click, at which point you are on their website under their privacy policy.
If a link is an affiliate or partner link, it is labelled as such next to the link.
Contact
If you email, your message and address are used to reply and are kept as long as needed for that conversation. Legal basis: legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Advertising
This website does not carry advertising and does not host advertising trackers. Adverts for these books may appear on platforms such as Meta; those platforms process data under their own policies, and clicking through to this site does not cause any tracking here.
If that changes and an advertising tracker is ever added to this site, you will be asked for consent before it loads, and this policy will be updated first.
Transfers outside the EEA
Cloudflare and MailerLite may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these, email the contact page. You will get a reply.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Spain that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), www.aepd.es. You may also complain to the authority where you live.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change is significant — for example adding a tracker that needs your consent — it will be obvious on the site, not buried here.
